An announcement of the Higgins Armory Museum Closing
I rarely watch television in the morning, but this morning did so to check the weather reports. The TV station announced that Higgins Armory will be closing. A few internet searches showed same.
The Higgins Armory opened it's doors in 1931. It is housed in a rather distinctive five story steel and glass building in Worcester, Massachusetts. The museum houses about four thousand pieces of arms and armour being one of the largest collections of its kind in the western hemisphere.
The museum has also offered varied educational programs (many free with admission) and other special events.
Much of the Armory's collection will be transfered to the Worcester Art Gallery. Some of the details are available here:

I'm grateful to have seen these historical works in their first Worcester home and wish the best for their future.
